Top 3 Wines for October
October is one of my favorite months. The weather gets cooler, the leaves change, Halloween is around the corner, and big bold wines are in my future. Read below for the 3 wines I will be enjoying this month and which fall foods to pair them with.
I don’t know about you, but when it’s fall I prefer warm, cozy, and comforting food. Try a local red like Chamard Vineyard’s 70/30 Blend with your next fall meal and be transported to a relaxed, tantalizing, fall evening no matter your stress level that day. Roasted chicken or beef stew pair well with bold red wines such as the 70/30 Blend. Also, if you’re up for a visit to Clinton, CT check out Chamard’s tasting room. A French inspired winery, it overlooks gorgeous vineyard views while you sit by the fire in the their tasting room. A great place to meet with friends, family, or curl up and read a book with a delicious glass of vino.
Regardless of the weather you like a white wine? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered! The Tolenas Eclipse White Pinot Noir is out of this world fantastic. Notes of peach, pineapple, and lemon. My taste buds can’t get enough of this white wine. Pair it with pumpkin pie, roasted chicken, or even sharp cheeses depending on your fall food vibes. You will not be disappointed.
Personally I love a good Malbec this time of year. Malbecs stand up to hearty meals like braised beef, grilled steak, and other big dishes. But there is still a great amount of fruit and fun where it pairs well with Halloween candy too. See where I’m going with this? Who doesn’t love a good wine and candy pairing? Especially around Halloween? Well this wine not only has an interesting name and label, but its delicious too! Deep notes of dark fruit, tasty vibes, and dark chocolate. Pair with short ribs or the Halloween candy you steal from your kids. (it’s all good, everyone does it ;)).

Pick Pumpkins
I’m thinking about combining pumpkin picking with wine & beer tasting… why not right? October 21st Outlook Farm & Winery are having their Pumpkin Festival on October 21st. Live music, pick your own pumpkins, enjoy delicious fall eats, wine and beer! Currently as I write this post I’m sipping on their Pumpkin Ale. Its super tasty with notes of cinnamon sugar, molasses, and pumpkin pie. The perfect beer for a cold night by the fire.
Read a New Book
The cooler the weather the more I want to read. I just purchased Wine Folly’s newest book and I can’t wait to peruse it’s pages and learn something new!
Make Some Fall Treats
To be honest I’m not the best cook, but I do enjoy baking and this time of year there are tons of delicious things to bake! See below for some of my favorite fall recipes.
Vegan Gluten Free Cinnamon Rolls
Apple Butter
Pumpkin Roll
